Sleeve you cards
Final result, back and front

This page is going to show you how to prepare cards that you previously printed. It is pretty easy to do. For this job, you will need the following material.

  • Cutting Mat
  • Exacto Knife
  • Scissors (optional)
  • Card sleeves

This is a very simple technique since there is no gluing to do.

  1. Cut the cards: The first thing to do is to cut the cards. You normally cut around, then cut strips to finally individually cut the cards. Of course it depends on how the cards are arranged on the sheet. I prefer the exacto knife rather than the scisors, use any tool you are comfortable with.
  2. Sleeve the cards: Simply place the cards in the sleeves. When I design a game, I generally make sure the cards exactly fit in the sleeves (2.5"x3.5"). So it is possible that the person who made your game did not take that in consideration.

That's it. It the simpliest thing to do in prototype building. There other easiest way is if the cards fit on precut business cards. In this case you print on business cards sheets and just punch out the cards.
