Mounted tokens
This technique consist in making tokens mounted on cardboard using double sided tape. You should use a similar technique for other type of mounts. It should also be similar if using self adhesive labels. You will need the following material:
- Cutting Mat
- Exacto Knife
- Scissors (optional)
- Cardboard mount
- Book cover plastic (optional)
- Bone folder
- Cloth
- Pen
- Double sided tape
- Cut around the print out: Cut any excess material around your tokens. Do not cut your tokens.
- Plastify the surface: Refer to the plastification guide to plastify the surface of the the sheet. DO NOT plastify both side of your sheet.
- Measure the tape: According to the size of your double sided tape roll, you might need to separate the token sheet to make sure it fits on the tape. So measure the space you have and split your sheets of tokens as you need them.
- Stick the tokens: Stick the token sheets on the tape starting from one side to another. If you are sticking a very large surface (I did posters in the past), start from one corner to the other to avoid ripples. Then cut any excess tape from the roll that you do not need.
- Press with a bone folder: You can press the back of the tape with a bone folder if you want.
- Let it rest: Let it rest for a few hours. Using a press is optional.
- Cut around the sheets: Use an exacto knife to cut any excess tape around the sheet of tokens.
- Stick the tokens: Peel of the tape behind the token sheet on one side ( or one corner if doing a large surface) and stick it on the mount.
- Stick the rest of the sheet: Now while pressing on the top with a cloth, peel off the tape behind the sheet at the same time to progressively stick to tokens on the mount.
- Let it rest again: Let it rest for a few hours.
- Cut your token: According to how thick is your mount, you might need to do 2 or 3 cuts. If it's the case, do the first cut on all tokens in vertical and horizontal directions. This cut is important because it is the path that the next cuts will follow. Then You can continue with your second and third cut. When reaching your last cut, you can also do it from the back by folding the tokens and then cutting them. You now have mounted tokens.
After cutting all these tokens, I realized that cutting fun foam is so easy compared heavy cardboard. But since I did not want flexible tokens, I tried heavy cardboard.
