A Mounted board

On this page, you will learn how to mount printed cardboard sheets on foam core board with spray glue. You will need the following material:

  • Cutting Mat
  • Exacto Knife
  • Scissors (optional)
  • Foamcore board
  • Ruler
  • Book cover plastic (optional)
  • Bone folder
  • Cloth
  • Pen
  • Spray Glue
  1. Cut out the board: You need to cut around the board to remove any excess material that is not part of the component. I generally use an exacto knife but you can use scissors if you want.
  2. Plastify the surface: You need to plastify the surface of the board. DO NOT plastify both sides. Refer to the plastification guide for more information. Platification is optional but it works better.
  3. Measure the foam: You need to measure the foam core you are going to need if your foam board is larger than your print-out. The reason why is because once you spray on the whole foam board, the excess cannot be used anymore for other purpose, so cut it now. leave some space around your print out so that you have space to work with it.
  4. Cut excess foam: You can now cut any excess foam that you measured in the previous step.
  5. Spray the glue : Place the foam core and the back of your print-out in a wind protected area outside. Then spray the glue uniformly on both components. There is no picture of me spraying the glue because I had to do it fast.
  6. Stick the print out: WARNING: you only have ONE SHOT. Once it's stuck, it's stuck. So start by sticking one side and gradually working toward the other side. If you are gluing a very large surface, I strongly suggest starting from a corner and working toward the other corner else you could get ripples.
  7. Press: First press with a cloth then with a bone folder. You should not really have any excess glue, but it can happen.
  8. Let it rest: Check your Glue can indication to know how much time you need to let it rest.
  9. Cut the board: Use an exacto knife and cut around the board. You now have a foam core mounted board.
