Plastified tokens
Some games ship with round tokens and unfortunately, unless you have the tray, you must cut them individually. And the bad news is that since these tokens are generally tick, it means that you need to cut the plastic twice. You will need the following material:
- Scrissors
- Book Plastic
- Cutting mat
- Cloth
- Bone folder
- Exacto knife
- Get a strip of plastic : I generally use leftover plastic from previous plastifications to do tokens. If you do not have loose strips of plastic, just take the measurement and cut the plastic you need. Look at the next step before taking measurements.
- Place the tokens: There are 2 ways to place the tokens on the strip, either in a square grid pattern or either in an hex grid pattern (see the picture). The hex grid pattern makes you lose less space but it is harder to place. Peel and unroll the plastic, place all the tokens you want and don't take the time to put pressure on it.
- Cut excess plastic: When all your tokens are placed, turn the plastic around and cut any excess unused plastic.
- Pressure the plastic: Then you need to make sure the plastic is stuck correctly to your tokens. First use a cloth to pressure the plastic on all your tokens. Then use a bone folder and do the same.
- Let it rest: You can now let the token rest to give some time to the plastic to stick on the tokens.
- Cut out the tokens: Now we need to separate the tokens so that you can easily cut around them. Use an exacto knife and cut around the tokens to make sure that each of them is stuck on a piece of plastic of their own. Don't bother about making nice cuts.
- Cut around the tokens: Now this is the most complex part. Hold the token in one hand and hold the scissors in the other. Open you scissors and then while closing down your scissors rotate the tokens with your other hand. It will allow you to cut around the token without having to move your scissors. Never close your scissors completely, when they are about to close, reopen then again and continue to cut.
- Do the back of the tokens: Good you have now done one side of the token, you must now do the back. Repeat steps 2 to 7 for the back of the tokens and both sides of your tokens will now be plastified.
