A resource management game where player controls a covenant of sorcerers. You need to improve your covenant and offer services to the outside world.
The objective is to create a game where players could manage a covenant. They attract followers, build new types of rooms, send followers on quest, trade resources, etc. Player will be able to support or not the kingdoms they are located in.
The primary source of inspiration is Puerto Rico for the tile and worker placement on the board. I am not sure if I am going to use a role mechanic. Age of mythology could also be a good source of inspiration and I prefer the role mechanism in that game.
Theme vs Mechanics: Could be a solo reimplementation of age of mythology.
Video vs Board Game: Could be implemented as both a video or board game.
Single vs Multi player: Since similar to puerto rico, a single player mode could be possible. I might opt for 1 or 2 player mode.
Rating = 9/12
+ No Cartography: The positionning of the items is not important like in puerto rico.
? Scripting: There will probably be scripted or at least common abilities.
Players will need to plan how they are going to expand their covenant and which room they are going to build. Rooms have special abilities that improves efficiency of the covenant. (for example: a summoning circle makes summoning easier, a library improve researching.)
You will also need to manage followers that will be assigned to various task like researching, magic item making, spell casting, which must be done in your covenant. Some followers might be sent on quest to gather ingredients and resources.
Covenants will be able to interact with each other by trading with caravans, or attacking each other. You could send followers or summoned creatures to attack other players.
One other thing is that covenants are located inside a kingdoms which does not always tolerate their presence. Kingdoms also have ambitions and war to fulfill. This is why they may ask or force the players to support them in their wars. Which has the impact of changing the relations between players. Players who like each other might get forced to hate each other.
No development has been done for this game so far, so I have no idea right now what problems could occur. I think the biggest difficulty would be to create an economic engine that works well.

24-jul-2017 | Idea | I think this idea would be best suited for a solitaire version of age of mythology with some ideas from puerto rico. You would need to manage the land around your covenants and the rooms inside your covenant and assign people to both areas. The goal is to fulfill objectives for the kingdom and or eventually overthrown it. Either there is 2 path to victory, or there are Rune Age style scenario with different victory conditions. Optionally, the game could be played as a 2 player rival game. |
22-dec-2013 | Idea | I have a nice deck building mechanic for magic system that might be too heavy for my other spell craft games. So I could make this game use that deck building mechanic instead. It would fit pretty well. |
